Through play babies acquire skills such as holding and using objects, controlling their body, communication and understanding of how things work. We stimulate creative skills with activities such as music, texture play and finger painting for the older babies.

For toddlers we offer activities such as drawing, painting, craftwork, music and movement and singing. Storytime is an essential part of each day. Sand and water play is available while other pursuits include construction toys, dressing up and cooking. Through basic 'science' children learn of properties of natural materials. Each child has a key carer to encourage stability and to ensure a continually stimulation programme of activity. Older toddlers are given an introduction to first experiments with letters, words, numbers and shapes while the pre-school children have activities that are planned and provided by a qualified teacher during morning sessions. Experiences provided for this group of children will be relevant to the new Foundation Phase, which is being implemented in Wales. Learning also takes place outside the nursery with trips to the theatre, Museum, Techniquest, the Library and Roath Park.
